Travel Health Advice
The practice nurses offer advice and vaccinations for those planning to travel abroad for holiday or business.
For general information on whether vaccinations are required for your destination please check on www.fitfortravel.scot.nhs.uk. This is a dedicated website for the public and gives up to date health advice for travellers, including vaccinations required, prevention of malaria and the current Foreign Office recommendations on personal safety.
Please try and ensure that immunisations are requested 6-8 weeks before travelling to ensure that you receive adequate protection as some drugs take time to become effective. This is also relevant for certain anti-malaria treatments that may be recommended.
If you think you require vaccinations, please complete the Travel Questionnaire and return to the Practice on d-pc.AdminLitchdon@nhs.net, the Receptionist will then telephone you to confirm that you need to see the nurse and make a suitable appointment.
There is no charge for the majority of vaccines, but certain injections for more remote areas may need to be purchased on an individual basis and a cost incurred. Drugs for anti-malarial use are only available privately and always incur a cost as they are not available on the NHS.
